mid-career boost

Congratulations to poet Marlene Cookshaw, who has won the Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Award from the Canada Council for the Arts. The Council gives a $15,000 award annually to one artist in mid-career in each one of their program disciplines. Ms. Cookshaw, a poet living in British Columbia, has won for writing and publishing.

Ms. Cookshaw began publishing with Coach House Books (Toronto) in the 1980's, and has since been published by Brick Books (London, Ontario).
