the (Canadian) cure for writer's block
One of these days, I will be able to carve out a three month chunk of time between husbanding, fathering, arts-funding, kid-taxiing and volunteer coaching, and once again put writing first. It's been a couple of decades since I had that luxury, but I keep a candle in the window. One of these days.
And when that time comes, I will be applying to spend my writing time at the Berton House Retreat in Dawson City, Yukon. Could there be a better place to shelve all the excuses for not writing than the remote, extremely northerly childhood home of Canada's most prolific writer?
Until I manage to get my life in order for an application to this incredibly generous retreat, you should apply.
Applications are now being accepted. Get on it!

What a fantastic opportunity, as a photographer I'm jealous. Tell me there's a photographers retreat near by.
Your life is a close mirror to my own. One day I'd like to do more travelling to places such as Dawson with a rich history and fantastic natural beauty.
I wouldn't even mind bringing my kids when they get a bit older.
But for now it's Tuesday so t-ball will have to do.
