kids' choice

I'm happy and proud to be involved in this year's Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children’s Book Awards. What makes these awards unique is the fact that the winners are chosen by children.

The shortlists have been chosen, as have juries of age-appropriate readers for both the Children's Picture Book and Young Adult/Middle Reader categories. The jurors read all the shortlisted books, and engage in a formal discussion and selection process at their school.

See the full press release, and the exciting shortlists here.

The Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children’s Book Awards are funded by the Ruth Schwartz Foundation. The administration of these awards is shared by the Ontario Arts Foundation, the Ontario Arts Council which manages the jury process, and the Canadian Booksellers Association whose members choose the short list of books.
