It hardly makes any sense to do so before you write something worth criticizing.

Speaking of interesting backward math. It is going to be interesting to see if A-C's attempt to increase it's revenue from universities will end up reducing it even faster as more and more universities take flight and abandon A-C for better options.Darrylnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38495605.post-39469830634713225282011-09-03T22:38:32.320-04:002011-09-03T22:38:32.320-04:00Hmmm, you guys both forgot to "Like" the...Hmmm, you guys both forgot to "Like" the posting.

Must have been the mental effort to come up with your standard "nuh uh!" rebuttals. Well, the schools refusing to pay the interim tariff are essentially proposing $0"

I agree that paying nothing for content would be disastrous for everyone, but it seems creative math is needed to add up the millions in payments that universities such as UBC pay for databases and direct licencing and still come up to $0 as you imply.

Yes some institutions may not be paying out for content under the AC licence this term but to infer that they are, or even intend, to pay nothing at all is disingenuous. The question 'if' someone can pay for something is different than 'should' they. Never mind the sticker price the real question is ... is the AC tariff the best value for the money?

Math is a funny thing, $45 does sound like a small amount but multiply that by 50,000 students and $2.25 Million is now all of a sudden a major budget line on the university books. Such an amount may or may not be better used to legally obtain content elsewhere.

Then again AC may just be the best value in town and the universities fools for considering otherwise. This next year will be quite telling on that account.Crockettnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38495605.post-62642088240673545672011-09-03T10:52:07.389-04:002011-09-03T10:52:07.389-04:00Wow.
