I would think that ART would be at the core of the discussion. Copyright therefore should be geared toward producing more art. Which in some ways will be good for artists, and in some ways will not. If you put the artist in the middle then you are starting the discussion with a skewed view of the world.

Perhaps that is the whole problem here.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38495605.post-4735477566163219772010-11-04T15:11:12.152-04:002010-11-04T15:11:12.152-04:00Unfortunately for the artists John, they are not t...Unfortunately for the artists John, they are not the only party that is the core of copyright law no matter how much you want to think so.Chris Anoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38495605.post-27114077530542949342010-11-04T10:39:40.899-04:002010-11-04T10:39:40.899-04:00Sandy and Gruesome,

There is so much misinformation about copyright, intentional and otherwise, out there right now, I am often baffled by what people think on the subject.

On the other hand, I choose to take heart in the fact that despite many years of relentless consumer-focused campaigning and artist-bashing from certain corners, the House in general recognizes that artists are at the core of the discussion.Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04803855978550653817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38495605.post-23459309630461257242010-11-04T08:56:17.948-04:002010-11-04T08:56:17.948-04:00The understanding of the bill and technology by so...The understanding of the bill and technology by some of these guys was laughable. However, I must say that my assessment of the opening debate is not quite as sunny as yours. Almost everyone made good points but I fear the level of understanding the effects of some of the provisions of C-32amongst our elected leaders is still far below where it needs to go if we are to arrive at a truly balanced bill.

Onward and upward in the Arts (up a pretty steep hill)!Sandy Crawleynoreply@blogger.com
